Tiny Greens, Big Impact

Reflecting on 3 Years and our Feature in Business South Magazine

It’s a proud moment for us at Tiny Space Greenz. This month marks three years since we began our journey of growing sustainable, high intensity microgreens in Ashburton. To celebrate, we’ve been featured in a deep dive article in the May issue of Business South Magazine!

"From a recycled 7-meter truck body to a high-tech vertical farm, Tiny Space Greenz is proving that sustainability and innovation go hand-in-hand in Mid Canterbury."

Engineering for Sustainability

The feature covers the heart of our operation. How we use clever engineering to grow spray free, soil grown greens with a minimal footprint. One of the technical highlights discussed is our thermal management strategy.

While we offset our total power usage with solar, we strategically run our high-efficiency grow lights at night. This allows us to harness the natural warmth emitted by the LEDs to heat the grow space during the cold Canterbury nights, while keeping the facility naturally cooler during the day. It’s a dual-purpose system that ensures plant consistency and energy efficiency year-round.

What’s Next for Tiny Space Greenz?

Being named as finalists in three categories for the ANZ Business Awards, Emerging Business, Primary Industries, and Environmental Sustainability, is a huge honor. It reinforces our mission to continue innovating in the sustainable agriculture space, focusing on soil health and high-nutrient production.

We want to thank our local community, our loyal customers, and the team at Waterford Press for highlighting our story.
